Hi there, after a new PC as my old laptop struggles to run games on higher settings

The games i like playing are Path of exile and Dota2. path of exile seems particularly demanding?

my budget is between 2-3000. I already have a screen, keyboard, mouse. Will likely upgrade screen eventually (don't know what to).

While i need the computer to handle POE/dota2 along with chrome browser, i would also like it to last a number of years so i would like it to be able to handle upgrades to these (and other) games.

is my price range appropriate? thanks

Afternoon Esxo69,

I have quoted up a well balanced system for your gaming/ future gaming needs focusing slightly more on a stronger CPU (important for MMOs) that will last you some time.

The GTX1070 included is also more than capable of handling your current games on 1080p and everrn 1440p @ 60hz though will be the first component you will need to upgrade as games progress as your CPU should be fine for quite some time.

Have a look over the below quote and let me know what you think.

How does this compare to the ready-made designs at the 3000 mark on this site?

Also, i should mention i need an SSD

Morning Esco69,

The closest Pre-Build to your quote would be the Ironside (currently sold out but soon to be built up).

This build has simialr specs with the big differences being the SSD (quoted one is faster and higher quality Samsung 970), the quote also had a 2TB HDD.

The GPU is a slightly higher model in the Pre-Build as well (GTX1070ti vs GTX1070)

Hi Thomas,

Upon discussion with my friend who knows heaps more than me (the bar is pretty low), the 3k price range may be a little bit overkill for me.

However, we're wondering about the Vengeance prebuild, and if it could be adapted with another stick of ram (so, 16gb ram) and then maybe upgrading the SSD to a samsung one. What do you think about this? are there any areas it falls short in your opinion?

Thanks

Morning Esco69,

I've quoted up the changes you have requested to the Vengeance build.

I believe we have oversold of this system so will double check with the product manager when he comes in if he plans on building more.

I' also ask what components will be incorporated as this does change slightly depending on the batch.

The only things I would potentially change would be the HDD to a Seagate Barracuda (7200RPM)and maybe bumping the PSU up to a 650w though these are both personal preference.

okay thanks, please let me know, i'm keen to get ordering on this soon

Thanks for the responses

Edit: Also, keen for upgraded PSU. i probably won't have much data to store on the HDD, not sure how that affects things.

Thanks again

Morning Esco69,

I've spoken with the product manager and he has told me it may be soem time before a new version is assembled as there are multiple parts no longer available that would need to be changed out.

I've quoted up the below build for you with some recommend changes, unfortunately the GTX1070ti (which was well priced) is no longer available with the closest alternative being the GTX1070ti turbo.

Have a look over the below quote and let me know what you think or if you would like to change any parts.

Hi Thomas,

I'm a little bit confused, there is a lot of information to sift through regarding part quality and value - this is more difficult when the quoted products change. It seems like the new quote is slightly more expensive for a worse graphics card that may need to be updated again in the near future.

Is the 1070-TI (non-turbo version) not available anymore? There are still other builds on the website that include the 1070-TI. From what i can find online the 1070 ti-turbo has heating issues and i would probabyl struggle to diagnose issues before things broke.

From what i can gather there is a significant step in quality between the 1070 and the 1070ti, and then another significant step to the 2070. Not entirely sure what i need to be honest, but for close to $2500 i don't particularly want to be replacing the most expensive part within a few years.

Morning esco69,

That is correct the GTX1070ti is no longer manufactured so what we have in stock is likely to be all that is left, some rare cases we can get more stock in though I don't know when this will be.

The card currently in builds are not available for me to take either as they are assembled systems.

The Pre-Builds are hard to match sometimes as a few of them are very low margin if not under cost if compared to the parts off the website.

This is because those components were bought specifically for builds.

I've made a slight tweak to the quote as initially I upgraded the CPU (due to no stock being available of the older gen) I have changed to this Gens equivelant which allows a better GPu as well (strix 1070ti)

Let me know what you think of the below quote.

If you want to talk through any part please don't hesitate to ask.

i think this looks good. just to confirm, the GPU in this setup is the Strix GTX1070ti (non-turbo version)? Asking as i was a bit confused and thought it was no longer available.

One last thing - do you think there would be much benefit upgrading the SSD to the samsung 960 one (or whatever you think is better performance/value?)

How do i order it?

Thanks

Morning Esco69,

My apologies for the confusion, the Gigabyte 1070tis are out of stock, we still have stock of the Strix 1070tis but once these are gone there wont be anymore.

The price difference between the 860 and 960 is $30 and your speed goes from 550/520 to 3200/1500 which is a big improvement in speed.

This will effect windows responsiveness as well as boot up time though in games, currently, the standard SSD will be able to handle their load requirements, with larger games in the future the new M.2 drives will start to have an edge though.

Once your build is finalised I can send through an order link here for you which you can add to your cart like a standard item.

Please let me know which SSD you would like to proceed with :)

Lets go with the 960, unless you think the 500gb one (970?) is a better option?

Either way, whatever you suggest lets finalise it and order it with the strix 1070ti before they run out :)

Thanks again for all your help
