Hi
I bought my PC from CL some time ago now.
Its been going well except the HDD is tired and full of bad sectors which are doing my head in.

I am looking at swapping out the existing HDDs for
2 X Sata SSD - one of these at 120 GB and the other around 240 GB. The 240 GB will have light gaming use. Mainly strategy games etc.
1 X Conventional 1 TB HDD - Looking at 2+ years of warranty. I do not intend to use this for gaming. Just storage mainly and playback of music and occasional video.

Also the power button has gone sticky or unsticky.
It takes multiple attempts at pushing the button to get it done.
Also not sure if the BIOS battery needs replacement.

Would you be able to give me a quote on the above ?

Morning Khalsa2,

2.5' SSDs have gotten pretty cheap recently with the Sandisk line being $59.95 and 104.95 for a 120GB and a 240GB respectively as below.

For the Hard Drive I would go for a WD red for long term storage of data and files.

Your Bios battery is a CR2032 and can be found at most supermarkets and hardware stores as it is a standard battery cell.

Which case did you have as I can always ask for a front IO power button though it usually proves fairly hard to order them in seperately.

Hi Thomas

That sounds great.

On the HDDs side, yes the prices look inviting and so I have changed my mind.

1. I will go for 480 GB SSD for my Primary Linux OS with Data + files.
http://www.computerloung...entview.asp?partid=26571

2. For my secondary OS I will go with the 240 GB SSD for my secondary Windows OS for Gaming Only.
http://www.computerloung...entview.asp?partid=25601

I have got an existing 120 SSD (Item: Samsung 840 Series 120GB SATA3 SSD (MZ-7TD120BW))
So I can use that as additional storage for Windows partition, if I need it.
And I will drop the Conventional HDD because I have a NAS with which I sync my PC Data to, so I am safe in terms of long term storage there.
Sorry I am just echoing my thoughts here.

Yeah so lets go with the following.
480 GB @ http://www.computerloung...entview.asp?partid=26571
240 GB @ http://www.computerloung...entview.asp?partid=25601
+ the Power IO button for the Case | NZXT H2 Silent Mid Tower Chassis (Black) USB3.0
Does that case detail above ^^^ give you the info you were looking for ?

Right, so how do we proceed here.
I am completely committed this coming weekend and weekdays won't really suit me at all.
Can I bring in my beast (PC) with me on Saturday the 23rd of June, around 12 pm mark or so ?
And we can fit in the drives and replace the power button at the same time. Or do I need to drop it off ?

Cheers
Sam

Last not least, whats the guarantee period on the SSD from Sandisk ?

Afternoon Khalsa2.

Our technicians don't work weekends unfortunately just the standard Monday to Friday hours for them I'm afraid.

We can definitely install the SSDs for you though if you wanted us to setup windows that is a service we offer though we do not setup Linx on systems.

The H2 is an older case so spare parts may be a bit tricky to get a hold of, we deal directly with NZXT so I can ask for you though this part will need to come in our next shipment (if we can get it) and these are regularly every 2-3 months.

The Sandisks have 3 year warranties on them.

Please have a look over the below quote for you SSDs and installation (Software setup added as well but you may not want that, this does include optimisation and all drivers).

Hi Thomas

Out of the quote given below, the only thing that needs to come off is the installation of the Operating system.
I can take care of that.

I would like the
240 GB disk as the first one (MBR will live here)
480 Disk as the second disk
the older existing Samsung 120 GB SSD can be the third disk.

The Conventional HDD can be taken out and given back to me.
I will dispose of it after some data clean out etc.

In regards to the power button, perhaps when you have the PC in your possession , have a look at the power button and see what you see as the issue.
The button depresses fine however it just takes many goes to fire it up. I would be happy to roll with your assessment and suggestion on that.

Rest all of it looks great.
I will try and drop off the PC to you guys next Saturday or midweek if I get some time.

Thanks for all the above. Much appreciated.
See you next Saturday.
