Hi All,

I wasn't to sure on where to post my question so I am posting it on the pc build.

I am planning to buy or build a home server for my studies on MSCA 2012 AND 2016, UNIX cert, VM ware cert.

I am planning to run multiple VM, Linux, Window 2012, window 2016, Raspbrain "ad block", VPN, Media Server.

I tried to look for component on trade me and other computer websites... but the I have 0 clue on what to build or get... so I am looking for any suggestions or recommendation.

I found something on trade me that looks okay? But again I don't know if it's overkill for what I need or it's underpower/outdated.

My budget is less then $500 and most of the vm are used for learning and practicing.

Afternoon FishieKateikyo,

That's honestly quite a tricky question to hit that budget with decent performance I may have to have a hunt around my suppliers and see what I can dig up.

Hi FishieKateikyo,

What part of the iLo are you having trouble setting up? I have found a very good and easy to follow guide for setting this up. Please refer to this guide and if you get stuck anywhere, please let us know what part you are stuck with and we will do our best to help you out.

Thanks for the reply, I went through those steps however while trying to enter my IPAddress on a browser, it doesn't seem to be able to load. I was told that I need to have a ethernet cable on my ILO port and a ethernet cable in my NIC

Hi FishieKatiekyo,

You shouldn't need an ethernet cable in order for this to work. It may be best to change your IP to a static address. Your IP can be found in command prompt (CMD) by typing ipconfig. The correct IP address that you need should be the IPv4 address. If this does not fix anything, then we recommend to try the ethernet cable fix you have been suggested.

Regards,
Cameron
