I’m building my own pc but I’ve come to a dilemma with my fans. Ive got 4x fans that I need to put power through and I only have 2x fan headers on my motherboard. 1x fan is at the back of the case and 3x rgb fans in the front. Is there a way around this. Do I have to use the headers? Can I power them through the psu? Open to suggestions.

One more thing as well my fan headers on my mobo have 4pins but my fans are 3 pins can I still use the mobo headers or would I need to power my fans another way?

Fans for the front are Corsair SP120 RGB
Back is a regular Corsair fan that came with the case
Mobo is RoG strix z370-f gaming

Thank you in advance

Morning Bellyrub,

There are a couple of ways to do this, the two best options would be the below cables.

3 pins will be fine they will fit into the grove and just leave one pin (PWM) exposed.

So would it be ok to run my 3x front rgb fans off 1x fan header on the motherboard? I think the noctua cables would be best since I can daisy chain the two cables and cheaper. But with the 4 header cable would it be ok to use 3x fan headers from it and ignore the forth?

Afternoon Bellyrub,

That won't be a problem at all as the one unused header won't effect the other fans as the Molex power is used to compensate for the number of fans.
